WHEREAS, Tim Gilbert served on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee for the
City of San Rafael for fifteen years, from 2003 to 2018, and served as the Chair for many years of
his involvement; and
WHEREAS, Tim Gilbert always brings a unique perspective to discussions, especially
regarding ADA consideration; and
WHEREAS, Tim Gilbert is a natural leader, evident by his ability to be considerate and
attentive in fostering collaborative feedback from other members and the public. During his time as
Chair, he conducted the meetings with a positive tone and welcomed everyone’s ideas; and
WHEREAS, Tim Gilbert volunteers his time outside of Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory
Committee meetings to help further the committee’s needs, from serving on ad-hoc committees,
speaking on behalf of the committee at City Council meetings, and preparing letters of support for
grant applications; and
WHEREAS, Tim Gilbert is a champion for all forms of car-free travel, but he speaks up for
our most vulnerable road users, including those with mobility impairments and disabilities; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby commend Tim
Gilbert for his knowledge of San Rafael, commitment to community involvement, and enthusiasm for
bringing about an improved quality of life in our town, on behalf of the community and City of San
Rafael.
