HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 4135RESOLUTION NO. 4135 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FIFTY LOW RENT HOUSING LEASED DWELLING UNITS FOR PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 23 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, the Public Housing Administration is authorized to provide financial assistance to local public housing agencies in providing low -rent housing by leasing dwelling units in existing privately -owned structures; and WHEREAS, said Section 23 provides that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any locality unless the governing body of the local- ity has by resolution approved the application of such provision to such locality; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Rafael is willing to approve the application of such provision to the City of San Rafael to the extent of fifty (50) dwelling units and no more. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael, as follows: 1. The application of the provisions of Section 23 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, to the City of San Rafael is approved. 2. The Council of the City of San Rafael hereby authorizes and gives consent to the Housing Authority of the County of Marin to operate said Section 23 Housing within the corporate limits of the City of San Rafael. 3. The approval and consent hereinabove given in subparagraphs 1 and 2 are- limited to fifty (50) dwelling units and no more, and the City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby requests that the Housing Authority of the County of Marin offer these housing units on the follow- ing priorities: 1. To persons who have resided in the City of San Rafael for two (2) years or more, and senior citizens. 2. To persons who have resided in the City of San Rafael for one (1) year or more. 3. To persons residing in the City of San Rafael at the time of their application. 4. Any units remaining after the above categories have been fil- led, the Housing Authority shall then accept persons residing elsewhere. I, MARION A.
