HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 4188RESOLUTION NO. 4188 RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT TRANSIT ACTIVITIES TO DATE AND THE PLANS FOR EXPAN- SION IT HAS MADE AND EXPRESSING THE HOPE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION WILL ACT FAVORABLY UPON THE DISTRICT'S APPLICA- TIONS FOR CAPITAL FUNDS FOR BOTH ITS BUS AND FERRY FLEET WHEREAS, the Golden Gate Transit System, providing transportation service in the Golden Gate Corridor by means of buses and ferry, is proving highly successful with public use growing daily; and WHEREAS, population projections in the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District's territory indicate that expansion of public transit systems is necessary in order to avoid increasing automobile congestion during peak hours of travel, and WHEREAS, the District is applying to the Department of Transportation for two-thirds capital grants to expand its bus and ferry service in the Golden Gate Corridor; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City of San Rafael endorses the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District's transit activities to date and the plans for expansion it has made; and be it further RESOLVED: That it is our hope that the Department of Trans- portation will act favorably upon the District's applications for capital funds for both its bus and ferry fleet; and be it further RESOLVED: That this resolution be sent to the Department of Transportation by means of having it included in the transcript of a public hearing to be held on this matter on April 19, 1972, in the Administration Building at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of the City of San Rafael, Marin County, California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of April, 1972, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Barbier, Jensen, Miskimen, Mulryan and Mayor Bettini NOES: COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None 2 - MARION A.
