TO ADJACENT AREAS IN EAST SAN Rr.rAcL
WHEREAS, th- Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation
District pians to construct its bus operating facilities in the City of
San Rafacl within an area bounded by HighYray 101 and Highway 17 where
existing traffic problems are increasing and will be aggravated by the
additional bus traffic, and
WHEREAS, serious traffic congestion noir exists on Highway 101
off-ra:op to Bellam Boulevard in the City of San Rafael, and the
con_truction of a new off -ramp from Highway 17 to be used by buses would
help to alleviate said congestion, and
WHEREAS, by Resolution Ivo. 4142 the City requested the State
Division of High,,.ays to cooperate with the Golden Gate Bridge, HiglTway
and Transportation District in their proposal to have constructed a new
off-ramrp from Highway 17 to better serve District's bus facilities no;.,
located on Jacoby Street in said City, and
WHEREAS, the State Division of H i 5ii:%rays has r ecom endled aja i ns t
said proposed off-ra.mp from H19h:-ray 17;
NOW, THEP,EFO,% BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of San Rafael does hereby urgently request the State Division of
Highways to make a complete review of the existing interchanges and
connections to Highway 17 to determine how the future City street pattern
may be developed to connect to Highs%ay 17 in the East Son Rafael area and
how access will be permitted.

that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held on
Monday the _ 1st day of May , 1972,
