RESOLUTION NO. 4281
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO ASK THE STATE 3
DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS TO REDESIGN THE TERRA `f
LINDA INTERCHANGE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE ACCESS TO Z
THE EAST SIDE OF HIGHWAY 101 G
WHEREAS, the existing Terra Linda Interchange is primarily
designed to carry north bound Highway 101 traffic to the west side of
Highway 101, and
WHEREAS, development on the east side of Highway 101 has pro-
gressively increased over a period of years to the point that the Terra
Linda Interchange as now designed does not provide an adequate movement
facility to the east side of Highway 101, and
WHEREAS, increasing and substantial use is made of this inter-
section by facilities of countywide importance, such as the Marin Veter-
ans' Auditorium and Civic Center, and
WHEREAS, substantial economic detriment and loss would occur
to existing businesses and industries on the east side of Highway 101 if
adequate access at this point cannot be provided in the future to the
east side of Highway 101, and
WHEREAS, the proper and effective utilization of land on the
east side of Highway 101 will be impeded unless a more adequate facility
is made available;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of San Rafael for all of these several and substantial reasons
does hereby go on record before the State Division of Highways as request-
ing that the Division immediately initiate design studies to modify or
replace the existing interchange with one that will adequately serve both
sides of the Highway as it relates to the area between Porto Suello Hill
and Lucas Valley Road with emphasis on the east side of Highway 101.

and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of said City on
