HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 4294RESOLUTION NO. 4294 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL REQUESTING THE MARIN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ADOPT A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE STATE DEPART- MENT OF PUBLIC WORKS APPROVE PROCEDURES AND CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING FEDERAL AID FOR URBAN SYSTEM PROJECT PRIORITIES AND ESTABLISHING THE FEDERAL AID URBAN SYSTEM COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has in the Federal -Aid Highway Act of 1970 declared it to be in the national interest for federal funds to be expended for highway and fringe parking projects on the Federal -Aid Urban System; and WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has enacted Chapter 201 of the Statutes of 1971, by which federal funds may be made available for use on county highways, city streets, and State highways along with fringe parking in urban areas in accordance with the intent of the federal act; and WHEREAS, there exists a compelling need for improvement of streets and highways within the boundaries of the cities within Marin County and the County of Marin; and WHEREAS, before Federal Aid will be made available for Urban System projects within Marin County, procedures and criteria for determining project priorities must be submitted to the State Department of Public Works for approval thereof; and WHEREAS, the Marin County Urban Thoroughfare Committee did meet and recommend that a Federal Aid Urban System Committee be established for the deter- mination of project priorities and fund allocations; and WHEREAS, the Marin County Urban Thoroughfare Committee has prepared a Resolution for adoption by the Marin County Board of Supervisors requesting the State Department of Public Works to approve procedures and criteria for determining Federal Aid for Urban System Project Priorities and establishing the Federal Aid Urban System Committee; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of San Rafael does hereby request the Marin County Board of Supervisors to adopt said Resolution requesting that the State Department of Public Works approve procedures and criteria for determining Federal Aid for Urban System Project Priorities and establishing the Federal Aid Urban System Committee. a 'u Wk Ii i; 1 of 2 I, MARION A.
