RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE SUB-
MISSION OF THE REQUEST TO THE PUBLIC
UTILITIES COMMISSION FOR FUNDS TO ASSIST
THE CITY IN PAYING ITS SHARE OF THE COST
FOR THE AUTOMATIC GRADE CROSSING PROTECTION
AT MISSION AVENUE AND NORTHWESTERN PACIFIC
RAILROAD CROSSING NO. 5-17.1.
WHEREAS, the State of California, under Chapter 1329, Statutes
of 1953, has appropriated funds for allotment to Counties and Cities so
that they may engage in the construction of railroad crossing protection,
and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael desires to apply for an allotment
of State aid for the construction or protection for a railroad grade
crossing.
WHEREAS, an application to the Public Utilities Commission of
the State of California has been prepared and presented to this Legislative
Body for consideration, and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has made provisions for paying
that portion of the cost of the project not requested as an allotment for
the State.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of San Rafael submit
the aforesaid application for State aid for construction of railroad grade
crossing protection to the Public Utilities Commission requesting an
allotment of Eight Thousand One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($8,150.00) of
an allotment of such amount as may be alloted by the Public Utilities
Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of San Rafael hereby
certifies the total estimate of cost to be paid for the construction of
protection for railroad grade Crossing No. 5-17.1 on Mission Avenue is
Thirty-two Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($32,600.00).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of San Rafael hereby
requests the State to pay the State's share of the total cost of construction
of the protection for which the City of San Rafael is making application for aid.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the purpose of this request,
C. Paul Bettini, Mayor of the City of San Rafael, City Hall, San Rafael,
California, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to sign the
herein mentioned application of the City of San Rafael to submit the same
to the Public Utilities Commission together with a certified statement of
the total cost to be paid for construction of the project herein mentioned.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly passed
and adopted by the City Council of the City of San Rafael, California,
on the 5th day of February , 1973 by the following
vote :
