RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
REQUESTING THAT THE STATE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS IMMED-
IATELY PREPARE PLANS A14D SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVE-
MENT OF BELLAM BLVD. IN SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA BETWEEN
JACOBY STREET AND FRANCISCO BLVD.
WHEREAS, the Greater San Rafael Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors adopted
a Resolution recommending emergency improvements and widening of Bellam Blvd.,
and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael concurs in the emergency need for improvements
to be made on Bellam Blvd. within the limits described above, and
WHEREAS, the State of California owns Bellam Blvd. and has the requirement to
improve the street when it becomes necessary, and
WHEREAS, the conditions of the street have become hazardous due to the traffic
conditions that have developed, and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has previously requested that some form of
improvement be started on the street as soon as possible, and
WHEREAS, no action has been taken by the State of California to correct conditions
which are steadily getting worse;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council of the City of San Rafael
request that the State Division of Highways immediately begin preparation of
design plans for the reconstruction of the street from Jacoby Street to Francisco
Blvd. to improve it as recommended in the Resolution from the San Rafael Chamber
of Commerce.
I, MARION A. GRADY , Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that
the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the Council of said City held on Monday the 21st
day of May 19 73 , by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEN Jensen, Miskimen, Mulryan, Nixon and Mayor Bettini.
NOES: COUNCILMEN None.
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN None.
