PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO SHARON McNAMEE, RECREATION DIRECTOR FROM AUGUST 1, 1984 TO NOVEMBER 14, 1997 (CM) - File 102 X 9-3-65 SRCC (Spec.) MINUTES 11/17/97 Page 2 SRCC (Spec.) MINUTES 11/17/97 Page 3 Mayor Boro introduced Sharon McNamee, who was the City's Recreation Director from August 1, 1984 to November 14, 1997. He cited the work she has done over the past thirteen years with the City's many different communities, particularly restoring the parks, bringing the Bocce Federation to life, the work she did with the San Francisco Seals baseball team, and the child care centers which flourished under her administration. On behalf of the Council, Mayor Boro presented Ms. McNamee with a Resolution of Appreciation, thanking her for her service to the City of San Rafael, and wishing her much luck and great success. Ms. McNamee thanked her fellow workers, thanking the members of the Recreation Department for their support and good work, which helped in making San Rafael' s Recreation Department one of the best in the County. She also thanked the members of the Park and Recreation Commission for their long hours of work and the good advice they provided to her and to the Council. 6.PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO SHIRLEY FISCHER, RETIRING BOARD MEMBER, NORTH SAN RAFAEL COALITION OF RESIDENTS (CM) - File 102 X 9-2-51 Mayor Boro noted the Resolution he was presenting to Shirley Fischer had been approved by Council several weeks ago, and recognized the work she has done on behalf of the San Rafael Coalition of Residents. He stated Ms. Fischer has been the driving force behind the Coalition since its beginning, and has worked quite closely with themany homeowner groups in North San Rafael, as well as the City itself. Mayor Boro stated the City was very appreciative of the work she has done, and thanked her on behalf of the Council for her wonderful efforts. Shirley Fischer, resident of North San Rafael, stated she was only one of a number of people who have made the North San Rafael Coalition an active group over the years. She noted one of the things that most impressed her about San Rafael is the opportunity for ordinary citizens to be involved in the decision making process in the government, stating this was wonderful, and she looks forward to rejoining that effort soon as an active member. 7. PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTIONS OF APPRECIATION TO THE MEMBERS OF THE NORTH SAN RAFAEL VISION STEERING COMMITTEE (CD) - File 102 x 9-2-51 Mayor Boro stated the work begun by the members of the North San Rafael Vision Committee in 1996 and concluded during the last few weeks has been an excellent job, and a great example of the community in action in San Rafael. Mayor Boro noted this all started out as an idea in 1995, the early stages began in 1996 when Sue Beittel, Bonnie Brown and Shirley Fischer met with Councilmember Phillips and himself to discuss how this might happen, and then the North San Rafael Vision Committee eventually evolved. Mayor Boro stated the Committee has done a wonderful job of involving the community in this effort, noting that is really what a vision process is all about. On behalf of the Council, Mayor Boro thanked the members of the North San Rafael Vision Committee for their wonderful work. Mayor Boro presented Resolutions of Appreciation to Jim Atchison, Ida Baugh, Amadeus Colenbrander, Ann Crew, Carol Dillon, Carol Durham, Jerry Edelbrock, Shirley Fischer, Kitty Forde, Elissa Giambastiani, Tom Hinman, Ben Lowe, Phyllis McGuire, Ian MacLeod, Larry Paul, Gary Phillips, Joe Shekou, Roger Smith, Ann Song -Hill, Valerie Taylor, and Patrick Webb. Councilmember Phillips recognized Mayor Boro's work on the Committee and presented him with a Resolution of Appreciation. Committee members Peter Galli, Rev. Lon Haack, and Lauren Pizzi were unable to attend the meeting. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM. A reception followed in the lobby of City Hall. SRCC (Spec.)
