VINCENT DE PAUL'S SOCIETY FOR REHABILITATION AT 822 B STREET (RA) — FILE R-103 x R-140 #8 x (SRCC) 9-2-49 Steven R. Boyer, Executive Director, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, District Council of Marin County, stated that a week ago Sunday, a fundraiser took place at Falkirk Cultural Center, specifically to raise funds for their cause. Other objectives included recognizing the volunteers who actually work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and very significantly, to honor Dr. Joel Fay, Police Officer, San Rafael Police Department, Mr. Boyer stated that Officer Fay has a significant impact on the community, specifically with those who need the St. Vincent de Paul Society Dining Room, and he wanted to ensure that the Board Members and City were aware of this. He thanked the City for allowing Officer Fay to do some non-traditional police work. Although not the same as Police Officer Jack Martin's job, it has lightened SRRA MINUTES (Regular) 09/17/2001 Page 1 SRRA MINUTES (Regular) 09/17/2001 Page 2 his load and eased their task of being a good neighbor. Mr. Boyer reported that in January, a delegation from the City visited his office to welcome him to the position of Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul, at which time he pledged his desire to be a good neighbor, and he reiterated that desire this evening. Regarding the $6,000 Grant to assist in painting and renovating the building, Mr. Boyer indicated that in the past two months work has commenced, costing $16,000, with additional floor and wall work to be carried out at a similar cost. The gesture from the City and Redevelopment Agency is very timely and overwhelming since some three years ago, he was present with a similar attendance as tonight's, when the decisions made impacted them directly. A very wise decision was made and he believed the relocation to be extremely important for them as an Agency and for the City in general. He trusted that by working with Nancy Mackle, Economic Development Director and Rod Gould, Executive Director, the relocation would be swift. Mr. Boyer again thanked the Agency for Joel Fay's work and for the support to his Agency in this community. Chairman Boro thanked Mr. Boyer, stating his comments were appreciated; he acknowledged and thanked him for his great work since assuming the role of Executive Director. Chairman Boro announced that the Resolution contained a typographical error on the second page regarding the Grant amount; this should read six thousand dollars ($6,000). Member Cohen moved and Member Heller seconded, to adopt the Resolution. RESOLUTION NO. 2001-29 — RESOLUTION APPROVING EXECUTION OF A SIX THOUSAND DOLLAR ($6,000) GRANT AGREEMENT WITH ST.
