IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL, MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2002 AT 7:30 PM

SPECIAL PRESENTATION:
1. MISSION CITY: THE STREETS OF SAN RAFAEL, SPECIAL SCREENING OF
DOCUMENTARY BY MARIN RESIDENT, SEAN GALLAGHER (CM)

Councilmember Phillips, Mayor Pro tem, opened the Special Meeting.
Lydia Romero, Assistant to the City Manager announced this would be a special presentation
by film producer, Sean Gallagher. She reported that on his own time and with his own money,
Mr. Gallagher spent two years researching San Rafael and put together this documentary on
the City.
Subsequent to the screening, Lydia Romero thanked Mr. Gallagher, indicating he wrote and
performed the theme song “San Rafael, Got To Be.”
Mr. Gallagher stated that making the documentary was a labor of love, explaining:
1) The City is so pretty and has so many beautiful locations. In terms of photography, it
was merely a matter of going out on hundreds of occasions, accompanied by his wife,
Tanya, and doing the work;
2) A lot of the work was made relatively easy because the people of this community are
so open and kind. Wishing to have some on-camera opinions of San Rafael, Mr.
Gallagher stated they talked to some hundreds of people and used what they believed
matched up with the various neighborhoods. The overall consensus was that most
people liked the City and are happy to live in San Rafael.
Mr. Gallagher thanked the audience for watching the documentary.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.
