RAFAEL (CM) – FILE 9-1
Councilmember Miller explained that San Rafael was the only town in Marin that participates in
Make a Difference Day. He indicated that the San Rafael Clean Coalition, consisting of the
City, Marin Conservation Corps and Marin Sanitary Service, was turning it into a big event this
year by offering prizes, lunch and entertainment to participants. In addition, a “Butts Out
Container” intended to reduce cigarette butt litter, would be unveiled, a sample of which he
shared with the City Council. Councilmember Miller stated that this personal ashtray would be
distributed to 1,000 people to encourage them to dispose of their cigarette butt litter properly.
Hoping for a big turnout, he encouraged all members of the community to attend and help make
San Rafael a litter free zone.
Councilmember Miller moved and Councilmember Phillips seconded, to adopt the Resolution.
