SPECIAL PRESENTATION:
3. PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTIONS OF APPRECIATION TO DON SWARTZ, KATE COLIN AND
DEBORAH STAPLETON, FORMER MEMBERS OF THE CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON
REDEVELOPMENT (RA) — FILE R-140 IVB x (SRCC) 102
Noting that all three members were leaving the Citizens Advisory Committee on Redevelopment (CAC)
for different reasons, Chairman Boro expressed appreciation for the work each had done for the
Redevelopment Agency. He recognized that a lot had happened in the community, in the
redevelopment area and beyond, and some of the ideas had made these honorees' service and
contributions worthwhile.
Presenting the Resolution to Don Swartz, Chairman Boro quoted "Don has shown superior skills in
halting CAC members from rambling on and on in monthly CAC meetings", noting he would like to learn
that skill. Most of all, Mr. Swartz was appreciated for his "commitment to the City of San Rafael, his
subtle sense of humor and because he was a one -of -a -kind guy," which was a very special tribute.
Chairman Boro thanked Mr. Swartz for his sixteen years of service.
Chairman Boro noted that Kate Colin had served on the Citizens Advisory Committee since 1998 and
she was now moving on within the framework of the City to the Planning Commission. Quoting from the
Resolution, he stated "Kate is known for her fast talking, exuberant presentations. She has been
squeezing CAC meetings in between her soccer games and was appreciated for her love of San
Rafael, her positive attitude, and she will be missed greatly by the members of the CAC." Chairman
Boro congratulated and thanked Ms. Colin.
Indicating Deborah Stapleton had been with the CAC since 1992, Chairman Boro quoted from the
Resolution "Deborah has contributed considerable time, energy and advice; Deborah is known for her
tenacity and tireless efforts on community issues and is appreciated for her official and unofficial years
of commitment to the CAC, a service she will undoubtedly continue as she started, as a dedicated and
concerned San Rafael citizen." Noting thirteen years was a long time, Chairman Boro thanked Ms.
Stapleton for her hard work and effort.
