Wednesday, March 15, 2006
MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Natu Tuatagaloa at 6:25 PM at Arrivederci Cafe, 11 G Street, San
Rafael. This meeting was a work session dinner.

The following topics were discussed and reported on. No action was taken.
1. Issues Related to Student Safety In Our Community
(Dixie/San Rafael City Schools Districts)
Special Speakers: Corporal Harry Barbier, SRPD
Officer Jennifer Welch, NPD
A PowerPoint presentation was made and discussion followed regarding
students and Internet use, with an emphasis on danger and how to help protect
our students.
2. City Opportunities and Challenges (City of San Rafael)
Mayor Boro introduced Interim City Manager Ken Nordhoff who gave a progress
report on the City Budget, Measure S, and other upcoming projects. Discussion
continued regarding emergency preparedness and schools. The schools and City
breakfast group will continue to discuss athletic and recreational use of fields.

3. Dixie and San Rafael City Schools Articulation
(Dixie/San Rafael City Schools Districts)
Dixie Superintendent Tom Lohwasser, San Rafael City Schools Vice President
Jenny Callaway, and San Rafael Superintendent Laura Alvarenga shared current
articulation practices to address the transition from Dixie to San Rafael schools.
Discussion continued regarding plans to formalize articulation between Dixie
Elementary District and San Rafael High School District with board policy.
There were no comments from the public.
After dinner and a time of social interaction, the meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM.
