RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURES FOR THE ITALIAN STREET
PAINTING FESTIVAL MARIN ON JUNE 24TH' 2015 THROUGH JUNE 29TH' 2015
WHEREAS, the Italian Street Painting Marin will occur Wednesday, June 24`" through Monday,
June 29`", 2015; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined
and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the
Downtown area, the above street(s) should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the date and
times described below.
Streets to be closed Wednesday, June 24`" 8:00 a.m. through Monday, June 291" to 4:00 p.m.
1. Julia Street
Tenant access to parking lots on Julia Street will be available throughout the event.
2. A Street, from Fifth Avenue to Fourth Street
Streets to be closed Wednesday, June 24`" 9:00 a.m. through Monday, June 29`" to 4:00 p.m.
1. Fifth Avenue from B to Court Street
City Plaza will be available as an event/event sponsor information area beginning Friday, June
`
26", 2015 for set up and ending Sunday evening, June 28`", 2015. No street painting will take place
in the San Rafael City Plaza. Public access to businesses will be maintained during event hours.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1. That all of the above findings are true and correct;
That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection
of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the
temporary closure of the above listed streets for the dates and times described above.
I, ESTHER C. BEIRNE, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of San Rafael, held on Tuesday, the seventeenth day of February, 2015, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmember: Bushey, Colin, Gamblin, McCullough & Mayor Phillips
NOES: Councilmember: None
