TO
VERA DE FERRARI
WHEREAS, Vera began her career with the City of San Rafael Community Services Department in 2000
as a Lifeguard at the Terra Linda Community Pool moving on to complete her college education and later
to work in the non-profit volunteer and corporate hospitality sectors; and;
WHEREAS, in 2012, she returned to where her heart is, the Community Services Department, to assist in
the management of the aquatic operations for both the Terra Linda and Hamilton Pools, serving over
65,000 users per year; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, Vera became the full-time Aquatics Program Coordinator for the Community
Services Department, where she employed her innovative management ideas, and passion for
technology to streamline practices in the Aquatics Division, including online staff scheduling, training and
pre-employment documentation for over 100 employees; and
WHEREAS, Vera's programming creativity is unmatched; within just a couple of years, she has
developed and supervised new swim camps, certification trainings, learn -to -swim and health and fitness
aquatic programs for all ages; and
WHEREAS, Vera commits time and energy to the expansion of social media marketing, increasing
aquatic program revenue and customer service in ways not understood by staffers over 30; and
WHEREAS, leading by example, Vera gets her feet wet on a daily basis, personally training, supervising
and motivating aquatic staff, and even diving into the water fully clothed, as the closest responder to a
swimmer in distress; and
WHEREAS, Vera is the consummate team -player, consistently producing above and beyond for the
community, her staff and her co-workers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael do
hereby extend their congratulations and appreciation to Vera De Ferrari as Employee of the Quarter for
the 0 ouarter of 2014.
