RESMUTION OF RPPREEIRTION
TO
NADER MANSOURIAN
WHEREAS, Nader Mansourian has been a valued employee of the City of San Rafael since 1987, a
distant time when Ronald Reagan was president, Michael Jackson's "Bad" topped the charts, The Loop
was not even a twinkle in her father's eye and cell phones weighed 10 pounds; and
WHEREAS, Nader began his career as a Junior Engineer in the Planning Department; he eventually
transferred to the Department of Public Works where he was promoted to Assistant Civil Engineer, Traffic
Engineer, Assistant Director and then to Public Works Director in 2010; and
WHEREAS, as a Traffic Engineer, Nader excelled at managing San Rafael's complex traffic control
systems. Over Nader's 29 years of tenure he oversaw the increase of San Rafael's traffic signal
inventory from 60 to 86; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the City, Nader has played a pivotal role in over 80 major projects,
among them the East San Rafael "Loop", establishing the City's first traffic model, the Point San Pedro
Median Landscaping Assessment District, the D Street Two -Way Conversion, several Non -Motorized
Transportation Pilot Program projects, Bellam Boulevard Widening and, it is rumored, the invention of
baseball; and
WHEREAS, Nader's expertise and skills spread beyond the world of traffic and engineering; from his
black belt in Taekwondo, to his epic motorcycle trips, to his underwater scuba diving adventures — none
of which have ever been confirmed by independent observers; and
WHEREAS, Nader is both a mentor and a friend to many of his colleagues, continuously passing on his
wealth of knowledge and expertise; his candid and humorous personality helps to guide and encourage
all those around him; and
WHEREAS, Nader always displays optimism and enthusiasm for his work and is well respected by the
City Council, his peers and everyone who works with him due to his professionalism, dedication and
conscientiousness; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of San Rafael City Council, and staff hereby
extend their gratitude o Nader Man ourian for his dedication, commitment, and contributions to the City
and wish him every ccess in the f ture. Aloha!
