HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 13485 (Appreciation Kate Colin)Fri u RESOLUTION NO. 13485 FEBRUARY 4, 2013 AGENDA ITEM 3.e CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PRESENTS THIS RESOhOTION OF i1PPRECUITION TO KATE COLIN :► _►► ► Iuu 1► WHEREAS, following her valued service on the Downtown Citizens Advisory Committee from 1998 to 2005 and the San Rafael General Plan 2020 Steering Committee from 2001 to 2004, Kate Colin was appointed to the San Rafael Planning Commission in July 2005. Kate served on the Planning Commission for 7'/z years; and WHEREAS, in 2007, Kate served as Chair of the Planning Commission. As Chair, Kate was well known for her efficient management of Planning Commission meetings and gracious approach to facilitating public participation and comment during public hearings; and WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Planning Commission, Kate contributed to the long-range planning of the City through her participation in the review and action of the 2011 update to the San Rafael General Plan 2020 1 lousing Element; the Canal Neighborhood Transportation Plan; the Canalfront Conceptual Design Plan; the Climate Change Action Plan and General Plan 2020 Sustainability Element; the Downtown Station Area Plan and the Civic Center Station Area Plan; and comprehensive updates of and amendments to the City's Zoning Ordinance: and WHEREAS, during her tenure, the Planning Commission reviewed numerous important community development projects which will positively impact the City for many decades including: the Village at Loch Lomond Marina; renovation ofNorthgate Mall;'rarget; the San Rafael Airport Recreation Facility; 33 North Condominiums; the Lincoln -Mission Condominiums; the Carriage Townhome development, as well as countless smaller projects; and WHEREAS, Kate has a strong and passionate interest in the topics of sustainability and climate change. During her tenure, Kate was appointed to and served as Co-chair on the Blue Ribbon Committee formed to prepare a Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP). Being a Blue Ribbon Committee member, Kate served as an excellent resource to her fellow Planning Commissioners during the Commission's review of the CCAP; and WHEREAS, Kate's participation on the Planning Commission will forever be known for her keen ability to listen, understand and weigh diverse public comment in assessing and supporting her decisions on planning projects. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby extend their sincere appreciation for the countless contributions Kate Colin has made to the betterment of the community and its residents.
