HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 13544 (Purchase Credit Card Parking Meters & Parking Sensors)CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL RESOLUTION NO. 13544 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL APPROVING USE OF A COMPETITIVE NEGOTIATION PROCESS FOR THE PURCHASE OF CREDIT CARD PARKING METERS AND PARKING SENSORS TO REPLACE EXISTING PARKING METERS WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael utilizes parking meters in the downtown business core that accept only coins as a method of payment; and WHEREAS, the City intends to purchase new meters that accept credit cards as a method of payment; and WHEREAS, City staff has concluded that the use of a request for proposals and competitive negotiation process will be more advantageous to the City than the use of competitive sealed bids as the request for proposals will allow staff to analyze and determine which, if any, proposer offers the best solution for new meters that accept credit cards as a method of payment; and WHEREAS, Section 2.55.190 of the San Rafael Municipal Code requires the CITY COUNCIL to authorize the purchase of equipment or services by competitive negotiation; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL hereby authorizes the Parking Services Division to issue a request for proposal for the purchase of credit card parking meters and sensors and to use a competitive negotiation process to select the proposal deemed to be most advantageous to the City. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall take immediate effect upon adoption.
