BARBARA HELLER
WHEREAS, BARBARA HELLER'S 20 years of service on the San Rafael City Council have been
marked by her dedication to, and compassion for, the individuals who live and work in the City of San
Rafael; and
WHEREAS, BARBARA HELLER'S commitment to San Rafael and to the wider Marin community has
been characterized by her leadership on a wide array of groups, among them as President of the Marin
County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers, President of the Marin Transit Board of Directors, the San
Rafael Planning Commission, the San Rafael Sanitation District, and many other committees literally too
numerous to mention; and
WHEREAS, MS. HELLER fundamentally understood the many ways in which the entire San Rafael
community has benefitted from vibrant, civic -minded economic development; and
WHEREAS, BARBARA HELLER, in her personal life and throughout her career in public service, was
and continues to be a passionate supporter of women's issues at every level of society; and
WHEREAS, While MS. HELLER'S public service is a prime example of caring, insightful and
pragmatic governance, service which always focused on who she was there to serve and how best to serve
them; and
WHEREAS, BARBARA HELLER, a widely respected pro-caninist, was rarely seen without an always
happy and occasionally leashed 4 -legged escort; and
WHEREAS, BARBARA HELLER's lasting impact on San Rafael as a whole, and its neighborhoods and
individual residents cannot be captured in a few words, however heartfelt.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby express their profound gratitude to BARBARA HELLER for her 20 years of compassionate and
pragmatic governance n behalf of a people who live and work in San Rafael. She will be sorely missed.
