WHEREAS, Arlene Sukolsky was a resident of the Canal Neighborhood of San Rafael from 1997 to
2013; and
WHEREAS, Arlene served on the Pickleweed Advisory Board from March 2008 to October 2013 as
Board Member and then Chair from 2009 to 2012; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Pickleweed Advisory Board, Arlene rewrote guidelines and
applications for improved accountability and data tracking of groups receiving co-sponsorship for programs
at the Albert 1. Boro Community Center; met individually with residents and community leaders on Center
issues; led the production of a video promoting the community benefit of the Center; and
WHEREAS, Arlene has served on the San Rafael Library Board of Trustees from May 2011 through
September 2013; and
WHEREAS, as Trustee, Arlene has been a staunch supporter of public library services in San Rafael;
particularly advocated for library service in the Canal neighborhood through the Pickleweed Library branch;
and has strongly advocated during her tenure on the Library Board of Trustees for improved Library Board
member participation and engagement; and
WHEREAS, Arlene's passion for her community, commitment to the professionalism and effectiveness
of Boards on which she served, and devotion to the City of San Rafael contributed to many long-lasting
positive impacts for its residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby commend Arlene Sukolsky for her generous gifts of time and talents through her service as San
Rafael Library Board of Trustee and Member of the Pickleweed Park Advisory Board; and we wish her well
in all of her future endeavors.
