HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 13637 (Jingle Bell Walk/Run)RESOLUTION NO. 13637 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CLOSURE OF DOWNTOWN CITY STREETS FOR THE JINGLE BELL WALK/RUN FOR ARTHRITIS ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8TH, 2013 FROM 5:OOAM TO 11:00AM WHEREAS, the Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Walk -Run necessitates the temporary closure of City streets December 8, 2013 from 5 a.m. to l l a.m. as specified below: 1. Fourth Street, eastbound, from Lincoln Ave. to Cijos Street from 5am — 8am for production and event start (5K race)Fourth Street from Cijos Street to H Street, 7 am- 1 lam from for production and event 2. H Street north bound from Fourth Street to Fifth Avenue, 7 am- I I am 3. Fifth Avenue from A Street to Lootens Place (controlled intermittent traffic) 7 am- I I am 4. Fourth Street from Cijos St. to E St. 7 am- 11 am 5. Lootens Pl. from Third Street to Fifth Ave. 7 am- 1 lam 6. "B" Street from Parking Structure driveway to Fifth Avenue 7 am- I 1 am 7. "C" Street from Parking Structure driveway to Fifth Avenue 7 am- I 1 am 8. "D" Street from Third Street to Fifth Ave. 7 am- 1 I am WHEREAS, the event will require the posting of additional temporary "No Parking" on south side of Forbes Avenue at Bay Court, Mission Avenue from G St. to H St. and on all the streets noted above as needed, from 7a.m. to 1 I aan. on Sunday, December 8, 2013 WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic the above listed streets should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the date and times described above. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 1. That all of the above findings are true and correct; 2. That, pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed streets for the date and times described above. 1, ESTHER C.
