CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OF 11PPRECIRTION
TO
CITY STREETS, PARKS, FACILITIES AND GARAGE DIVISIONS OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, Traditionally the City Streets, Parks, Facilities Repair, and Garage Division of the
Department of Public Works have acted independently of each other in the past; and
WHEREAS, The City of San Rafael has been set upon by budget cuts, a recession and various
changes with in the City such that having these divisions work independently can no
longer support the needs of the City and its residents; and
WHEREAS, The personnel within these divisions have stepped up to face these challenges by
sharing resources, sharing historical knowledge and utilizing all the staff's abilities to work
together to address storm related problems, assist with emergencies, tackle large
coordination projects such as homeless camps and essentially work as a team to keep
this city's infrastructure functioning; and
WHEREAS, The Streets, Parks, Facilities, and Garage Divisions of the Department of Public Works
have a "Can Do" attitude for working hard to accomplish a variety of tasks from cleaning
up homeless encampments, eliminating graffiti, providing storm damage repairs,
providing assistance to other Departments such as Police and Fire; and
WHEREAS, This proactive and collaborative approach by all the people within these divisions has
shown that we are exceptionally fortunate to have personnel that accept challenges and
work together to solve problems which exemplifies the ability of the city staff to help its
community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael do
hereby extend their congratulations and appreciation to the Streets, Parks, Facilities and Garage
Divisions of the Department of Public Works as the team of the Quarter for the 3rd quarter of 2013.
