Whereas, the City of San Rafael has had to make significant budget balancing
decisions over the last few years to deal with the impacts of the ongoing national
recession; and
Whereas, these changes have included reducing the City's workforce resulting in
the reduction of three Police Sergeants and one Police Civilian Manager; and
Whereas, the personnel action recommended will allow the Police Department
to re -balance the responsibilities assigned to Police Sergeants and will result in
better efficiency and effectiveness.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of San Rafael
hereby approves the following personnel actions:
To eliminate one Police Corporal position and create one additional Police
Sergeant position.
1, Esther Beirne, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of
the San Rafael City Council held on February 6, 2012 by the following vote, to
wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Connolly, Levine, McCullough, Mayor Phillips
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: Heller
