RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF ONE POLICE TRAINING VEHICLE, SPECIFICALLY A 2012
FORD F-350 XL 4X2 CREW CAB DUALLY 6.7L DIESEL PICKUP TRUCK TO
REPLACE THE CURRENT TRAINING VEHICLE (UNIT 159), FROM FOLSOM
LAKE FORD FLEET SALES FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $35,854.14 PART
OF CALIFORNIA MULTIPLE AWARD SCHEDULE CONTRACTS PROGRAM
WHICH IS EXEMPT FROM BID PROCESS
Whereas, the Police Department fleet includes one Training Utility vehicle used
for facilitating a variety of tasks related to training and transportation of
equipment; and
Whereas, the Police Department recognizes the importance to transport by
towing specialized equipment using a vehicle that is capable of accomplishing
that task; and
Whereas, the Police Department is currently not able to accomplish the task of
efficiently transporting the Avoid Mobile Command Trailer along with the SWAT
trailers in a timely manner to assist with the apprehension of suspects or to
conduct on -scene investigations using both department resources; and
Whereas, the Police Department is scheduled to replace the Training Utility
vehicle in the 2013 budget cycle and funding for that replacement is already near
the cost to purchase the proposed Ford F-350 XL 43 Crew Cab dually diesel
pickup truck.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael authorizes the Police Department to replace the Training Unit vehicle with
the purchase of a Ford F-350 XL Crew Cab dually diesel pickup truck using
existing Vehicle Replacement Funds in the amount of $28,538.49 with the
difference of $7,315.65 being funded by the police department budget.
I, Esther Beirne, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing
resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of
the San Rafael City Council held on March 19, 2012 by the following vote, to wit:
