RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
ENCOURAGING RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO PARTICIPATE IN EARTH
DAY ACTIVITIES ON APRIL 21ST, 2012
WHEREAS, San Rafael is committed to environmental sustainability; and
WHEREAS, Earth Day is an internationally recognized event geared toward developing acts of service
and support for the environment; and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Volunteer Program and Public Works Department have been participating in
Earth Day for over 15 years; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael has partnered with several other agencies including Marin County
Parks, the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership, the Marin County Stormwater Pollution
Prevention Program, Marin Municipal Water District, and the Earth Day Marin Festival to promote Earth
Day as an annual service event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
hereby encourage all residents and businesses in San Rafael to participate in Earth Day on Saturday,
April 21't by joining a service project and attending the Festival.
1, ESTHER C. BEIRNE, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on
Monday, the sixteenth day of April, 2012 by the following vote, to wit:

NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None
