A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR THE 2012/2013 CYCLE OF
THE BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT (BTA) FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
THE GRAND AVENUE BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE.
WHEREAS, the Bicycle Transportation Account is an annual program providing state
funds for projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters; and
WHEREAS, the City is currently designing a twelve foot wide bicycle and pedestrian
bridge along the east side of Grand Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the bridge will improve the safety and convenience of bicycle commuters
by serving major transportation corridors and removing travel barriers to potential bicycle
commuters; and
WHEREAS, the Bicycle Transportation Account provides up to 90% of the total project
costs; and
WHEREAS, the City will use local funding to cover the remaining project costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND RESOLVED by the
Council of the City of San Rafael that the Director of Public Works is authorized to apply for the
Bicycle Transportation Account grant.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized
to take any and all such actions and make changes as may be necessary to accomplish the
purpose of this resolution.
I, ESTHER C. BEIRNE, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
Council of said City held on the 16th day of April, 2012, by the following vote, to wit:
