UNITED MARKETS
WHEREAS, United Markets is a family-owned local grocer that is known for their
support of the community and elimination of plastic bags from their
check-out stands; and
WHEREAS, United Markets participated in the inaugural Greening for Profit business
sustainability program; and
WHEREAS, United Markets has developed a Sustainability Plan, one element of which
is to increase energy -efficiency by installing LED lighting in their
warehouse and freezer sections, and motion -sensor lighting in storage
rooms; and
WHEREAS, United Markets has identified other means of increasing
sustainability in their business practices from the Greening for Profit
program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the
City of San Rafael hereby commend and recognize United Markets for participating in
the Greening for Profit program and being a leader in business sustainability.
