RESOLUTION NO. 13437
CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
TO
MIKE FRYER
WHEREAS, on July 19, 2010. Mike Fryer was appointed by the San Rafael City Council to serve on the Civic
Center Station Area Plan Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Committee was to develop a conceptual Civic Center Station Plan addressing station access and
connectivity, transit -oriented development, accessible design, parking. and pedestrian design; use area
resources and assets to create a functional and attractive transit hub for the north San Rafael
community; and include a multiagency implementation, which it did in collaboration with the
community -at -large; and
WHEREAS, the Civic Center Station Area Plan Advisory Committee met for 20 monthly meetings, held two
community workshops to gather ideas for transportation improvements and housing opportunities
around the station, and to hear feedback on their ideas, made 12 presentations for comments on the
draft plan; and
WHEREAS, Mike, facilities manager at Guide Dogs for the Blind, served as committee co-chair, ran meetings with
a gracious, easy going demeanor, worked hard to help the Committee reach consensus and generously
provided Guide Dogs for the Blind facilities as a venue for the committee meetings and community
workshops; and
WHEREAS, the Civic Center Station Area Plan Advisory Committee's work resulted in a unanimous
recommendation of a conceptual plan that captures the community's vision for creating a vibrant,
mixed-use, livable area supported by a mix of transit opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby
commend Mike Fryer for his knowledge about the Civic Center Station Area, commitment to community involvement,
and enthusiasm for bringing about an improved quality of life in our town, on behalf of the community and the City of
San Rafael.
