FRED WARNECKE
WHEREAS, Fred Warnecke faithfully and productively served on and contributed his significant landscape
architecture talents to the Park and Recreation Commission from 1993 to 3012, nineteen years;
and
WHEREAS, Fred was instrumental in the development and review of the renovations of Freitas Park Phase
1&2, Peacock Park, Gerstle Park Playground renovation 1&2, Boyd Park Playground installation,
Bret Hart Park renovation, Bernard Hoffman Field purchase and renovation, Sun Valley Park
Phase 1 &2. Starkweather Shoreline Park (3 sections), and Santa Margarita Park; and
WHEREAS, Fred devoted years to plan development and public review producing the Albert J. Boro
Community Center Renovation and Expansion, Parkside Children's Center, Terra Linda
Community Pool, Pickleweed Park Field Renovation, and the Redwood Village and Loch Lomond
recreation plans; and
WHEREAS, Fred provided his visionary skills to create the Victor Jones Park Master Plan, Albert Park Master
Plan, and Falkirk Cultural Center Grounds Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, Fred contributed his time and talent to the City with many formal landscape concept plans and
countless aesthetic improvements to public property for the benefit of his community, typified in
his service on the Falkirk Master Plan Committee and the Street Tree Advisory Committee, and
WHEREAS, Fred champions active recreation opportunities, creating public spaces, preserving open space and
interpreting historical significance in San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, Fred Warnecke represented San Rafael with grace, diplomacy, humor, creativity and respect for all
opinions and perspectives, and simply cannot be replaced.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael hereby
express their sincere gratitude to FRED WARNECKE for his nineteen years as a member of the Park and Recreation
Commission and wish him well in all of his future endeavors.
