RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL SUPPORTING AB 37 (HUFFMAN)
REQUIRING THE CPUC TO ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO OPT -OUT OF WIRELESS
SMART METER INSTALLATION
WHEREAS, On November 10, 2010 the City of San Rafael sent a letter to the
California Public Utilities Commission ("CPUC") and Pacific Gas and Electric
regarding the Smart Meter program; and
WHEREAS, the letter requested the establishment of a permanent "Opt -out"
program to allow customers to make the decision whether to have a Smart Meter on
their property; and
WHEREAS, Assemblymember Huffman introduced AB 37 on December 6,
2010; and
WHEREAS, AB 37, if adopted, would allow customers to opt out of wireless Smart
meter installation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council hereby
supports AB 37.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council hereby directs staff to
notify Assemblymember Huffman's office regarding this action.

resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City
Council held on the 7`h day of February 2011, by the following vote, to wit:
