HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 13231 (Appreciation National Preparedness Month)RESOLUTION 13231 CITY OF SAN RAFAEL PRESENTS THIS Kcsul+l1T10N OF NPPRECIflT10N TO NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH PROCLAIMING NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH SEPTEMBER2011— WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month creates an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of emergency preparedness and to encourage all residents of San Rafael to better prepare themselves and their families for any type of emergency including natural and man-made disasters; and WHEREAS, investing in the preparedness of ourselves, our families, businesses, and communities can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities and in our region; and WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every citizen of San Rafael and all residents are urged to make preparedness a priority and work together, as a team, to ensure that individuals, families, and communities are prepared for disasters and emergencies of any type; and WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael is committed to ensuring that City staff are prepared to fulfill their obligations as Disaster Service Workers through emergency trainings and exercises and the implementation of State and Federal emergency management programs; and WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael continues to improve our community's ability to prepare for emergencies by offering several exemplary emergency preparedness programs: CERT and Get Ready; and WHEREAS, together, City staff and residents can significantly enhance the level of community preparedness to further safeguard and secure our homeland; and during National Preparedness Month, we encourage all residents to get themselves and their families prepared, as well as to be involved in their community's preparedness efforts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael do hereby proclaim September 2011 "NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH" in the City of San Rafael, and encourage all San Rafael residents and business owners to make preparedness a priority in their homes, schools, and businesses.
