HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 13245 (Traffic Safety Grant Funds)RESOLUTION NO. 13245 RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL APPROVING USE OF STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $170,000 FOR THE "AVOID THE MARIN 13 DUI CAMPAIGN — MARIN COUNTY" ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FROM OCTOBER 1, 2011 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2012 Whereas, the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety granted the City of San Rafael $170,000 in grant funds; and, Whereas, this grant money may be spent to pay costs associated with the "Avoid the Marin 13" DUI enforcement campaign; and, Whereas, the City of San Rafael will coordinate with the nine municipal law enforcement agencies, the College of Marin, the Marin County Sheriff's office and the California Highway Patrol to conduct checkpoints and strike teams during the periods from October 2011 through September 2012; and, Whereas, the Department will use those funds for overtime personnel costs, reimbursement to allied agencies, publicity, educational material, checkpoint supplies and small equipment; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the use of $170,000 in grant funds. I, Esther Beirne, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the San Rafael City Council held on October 3, 2011 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Brockbank, Connolly, Heller, Levine & Mayor Boro NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ESTHER BEIRNE, City Clerk
