significant effect on the quality of life in their community; and

O rBrien Citizen of the Tear award due to her lifelong accomplishments in promoting a vi6rant presence of
the theatre, entertainment and education in (Downtown San 12ifae fi and
REAS, Wargie's community contri6utions 6egan in 1954 when she and her hus6and David opened
their business to teach students the art of acting, singing and dancing; and
` ,91TWMS, in 1962, Wargie and (Davidpurchased and redegned theformerTrinity Lutheran Church at
1415 fifthAvenue to create The Belrose where students could study and peff nn as wed as learn the crafts
of set design, producing, driecting and writing; and
R AS, over the years, Margie expanded the performing arts center to include a costume shop (today
renownedfor its Renaissance festivalcostumes), live dinner entertainment, Thursday Night Open Mc; and
UWERMAS, at The Belrose, 91fargie has offered three generations of San Rafael residents, both experienced
and novice, an opport unity for self-expression andgrowth as local performers; and
`WXERgAS, in addition to time-honored musicals such as "Oliver" and lPeter Ban" to classics such as
'Wiracle Worker" and 'The Lion in Winter, "Wargie presented original delightful spoofs such as 151ello
Warin 7fello; "and
%&IPWS, Wargie's legacy is characterized 6y the lasting imprint of 7fiie Belrose in the hearts of San
12ifaelresidents andvisitors, and6y hergenerosity in opening the doors of Belrose forfundraising events
andgranting countless scholarships to deserving and underprivileged students of all ages and 6acFgrounds.
