RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL SUPPORTING
MARIN COUNTY TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT MEASURE B
"A MEASURE PROVIDING FOR TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS IN MARIN
COUNTY THROUGH A TEN DOLLAR VEHICLE REGISTRATION FEE"
WHEREAS, SB 83, approved in 2009, allows designated congestion management agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Authority of Marin is the locally designated congestion
management agency:
WHEREAS, Transportation Authority of Marin has approved Measure B to be placed on the
November, 2010 ballot to collect a ten dollar vehicle license fee to be used for transportation
projects within Marin County; and
WHEREAS, Measure A passed by Marin County voters in 2004 has provided $2.8 Million for San
Rafael streets and roads from 2005-2010 and additional funds for transportation projects serving
City residents such as completing the carpool lane on Highway 101 through San Rafael. San Rafael
is anticipated to received over $10 Million for local streets and roads over the life of Measure A;
and
WHEREAS, there are additional unfunded transportation needs in Marin County; and
WHEREAS, Measure B would provide an ongoing and stable source of funding for local
transportation projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council hereby joins with others
in support of Measure B.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the San Rafael City Council hereby directs staff to notify the
Transportation Authority of Marin regarding this action.

resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council
held on the 7T" day of September 2010, by the following vote, to wit:
