RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
RAFAEL APPROVING A CONTRACT AMENDMENT EXTENDING
FUNDING WITH FIRST FIVE MARIN (MARIN CHILDREN AND
FAMILIES COMMISSION) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011 TO PROVIDE
SCHOOL READINESS PRESCHOOL SERVICES AT PICKLEWEED
CHILDREN'S CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF $73,218.00, AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, following City Council approval of Resolution No. 12406, the City of San
Rafael entered into a three year contract from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2010 with the First Five
Marin (Marin Children and Families Commission) for preschool services at the Pickleweed
Children's Center in the amount of $73,218.00 per year; and
WHEREAS, First Five Marin has proposed to amend the aforementioned contract to
provide an additional year of funding in the amount of $73,218.00 from July 1, 2010 through June
30, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the City Staff has recommended that the City Council approve the contract
amendment and authorize the City Manager to sign designated contract documents with First
Five Marin (Marin Children and Families Commission).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San
Rafael approves and authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract amendment with First
Five Marin (Marin Children and Families Commission) for an additional year of preschool
services from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 at the Pickleweed Children's Center, for the sum of
$73,218.00, the form of which contract amendment is attached to the related Staff Agenda Report
for the City Council meeting of September 7, 2010, and is on file with the City Clerk.
I, ESTHER C. BEIRNE, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the
City Council of said City held on Tuesday, the 7`h day of September, 2010 by the following vote,
to wit:

This Contract Amendment is between Marin Children and Families Commission
"Commission" and City of San Rafael/Child Care Division "Contractor". This Contract
Amendment only amends the revised Exhibits A, (Attachments Al and A2) and Exhibit B,
Attachment B. All and any other agreements executed under the original contract signed
10/25/2006 are binding.
The timelines of this contract amendment are from July 1. 2010 to June 30. 2011

The "Contractor" agrees to the following terms and conditions in order to receive funds from
Marin Children and Families Commission.
• The "Contractor" will maintain a tobacco -free workplace
• The "Contractor" will not accept any funding from the tobacco industry, including event
sponsorship and in-kind contributions.
• The "Contractor" will purchase equipment that meets all applicable safety laws and
standards.
