RESOLUTION APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) SIDE
LETTER BETWEEN THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AND THE SAN RAFAEL POLICE
ASSOCIATION REGARDING OUT OF CLASS COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Police Department reduced staffing in February
2010 due to budget cuts by one full-time Police Call Taker & Records Specialist and
one full-time Communications Dispatcher, both of which are represented by the San
Rafael Police Association (ASSOCIATION); and
WHEREAS the City of San Rafael (CITY) and representatives of the
ASSOCIATION have met to discuss the administrative and operational needs of the
San Rafael Police Department and how these needs can be met with current staffing
levels; and
WHEREAS, the ASSOCIATION would benefit from the ability to use Out of Class
pay as appropriate;
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
San Rafael hereby approves the attached Side Letter amending the current
Memorandum of Understanding with the San Rafael Police Association (July 1, 2009
through June 30, 2011) to address Out of Class Compensation for Police Services
Specialists.
I, Esther C. Beirne, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of San Rafael, held on Tuesday, the 7th of
September, 2010, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers: Brockbank, Heller, Levine & Mayor Boro
NOES: Councilmembers: None
