RESOLUTION TO MODIFY THE JOB SPECIFICATION FOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
COORDINATOR TO INCLUDE EXPANDED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, AND INCREASE THE
SALARY RANGE TO THE EQUIVALENT OF THE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
WHEREAS, due to the economic recession, the City has gone through significant
budget cuts over the last couple of years that have affected all departments in one way
or another; and
WHEREAS, departments continue to re -prioritize and reorganize in order to
provide effective services as efficiently as possible with limited resources; and
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Coordinator Position has taken on additional job
responsibilities including supervision of Temporary, Seasonal and/or Fixed -Term
employees, increased responsibility for marketing and public relations for events and
other duties in order to continue to meet the needs of the public; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends an increase in the Volunteer Program Coordinator
salary to compensate for the additional job responsibilities; the salary will be set at the
same range as the current Program Coordinator position, also represented by SEIU;
NOW, THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED the City Council of the City of San
Rafael hereby approves amending the job classification for the Volunteer Program
Coordinator to include additional responsibilities, as provided in attached Exhibit A, and
adjusting the salary range for this position to the equivalent of the salary range of the
Program Coordinator.
I, Esther C. Beirne, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the
foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of San Rafael, held on Monday, the 20th of
December, 2010, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers: Brockbank, Connolly, Heller, Levine & Mayor Boro
NOES: Councilmembers: None
