CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OF IIPPRECIdTION
TO
San Rafael Fire Department and
Marin County Dispatch Personnel
WHEREAS, the American College of Emergency Physicians sponsors National Emergency
Medical Services Week each year as a national celebration - bringing together
communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication
of those who provide the day-to-day life-saving services of medicine's "front
line"; and
WHEREAS, this year's EMS WEEK, with a theme of "EMS: A Proud Partner in Your
Community", is May 17-23; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael implemented full paramedic services throughout the
community on January 1, 1980; and
WHEREAS, the San Rafael Fire Department is now in the 30`h year of continuous operation of
these all important emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, during the past calendar year, San Rafael Fire Department personnel provided
life-saving assistance at more than 4,500 medical/vehicle accident/injury
incidents in a paramedic service area which includes the City of San Rafael and
the greater San Rafael areas of CSA 19, Marinwood Community Services
District, CSA 13, and various State areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael,
in honor of EMS Week and the 30°i year of San Rafael EMS services, take great pride in commending the
Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, and medical supervision personnel of the San Rafael Fire
Department, the Emergency Medical Dispatchers of the San Rafael Fire Department and Marin County
Communications Division for their extraordinary dedication to duty, commitment to the highest levels of
professionalism, and exemplary life-saving medical responses to the greater San Rafael community.
