RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO APPROVE AN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF MARIN AND THE CITY OF
SAN RAFAEL TO EXCHANGE $265,300 IN LOCAL MEASURE A FUNDS
FOR $265,300 IN NON -MOTORIZED PILOT PROGRAM (NTPP) FUNDS
FOR THE MEDWAY/CANAL ENHANCEMENT PROJECT (#10705),
SUBJECT TO AN APPROVAL FROM THE TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY OF MARIN (TAM) BOARD
WHEREAS, the County of Marin has proposed an exchange of $265,300 in
Local Measure A funds for a like amount of federal NTPP funds; and
WHEREAS, the budget of the Medway/Canal Enhancement project is comprised
of the following funding sources: $400,000 -Measure A; $365,300-NTPP; $900,000 -
Metropolitan Transportation Authority grant; total -$1,665,300; and
WHEREAS, County of Marin will utilize the $265,300 in Measure A funds for
local bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects which would have been difficult with
NTPP due to the federal process; and
WHEREAS, NTPP funds can be easily utilized in the Medway/Canal project
because it already contains federal funding; and
WHEREAS, the proposed exchange will not impact the construction schedule or
budget of the Medway/Canal Enhancement project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
San Rafael authorizes the Director of Public Works to approve an agreement between the
County of Marin and the City of San Rafael to exchange $265,300 in Local Measure A
funds for $265,300 in NTPP funds for the Medway/Canal Enhancement project, subject
to an approval from the TAM Board.
I, ESTHER C. BEIRNE, City Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby
certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted
at a regular meeting of the Council of said City held on the 5th day of May 2008,
by the following vote, to wit:
