TO
DESIGNATE MAY 7-149 2008 AS
SMALL BUSINESS WEEK
WHEREAS, small businesses make up an essential part of the economic health of
the City of San Rafael; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael supports the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce
Business Showcase, which functions as a highly successful resource for small
businesses; and
WHEREAS, small businesses create a strong local economy, provide employment
opportunities, and provide the products and services that are necessary to residents
and other businesses; and
WHEREAS, small businesses generate vitality and add life to the Downtown and
other San Rafael business centers; and
WHEREAS, small businesses, the City of San Rafael and the San Rafael Chamber of
Commerce work together to promote and strengthen the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael and the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce
want to recognize the contribution of small businesses to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the
City of San Rafael designate May 7 — 14, 2008 as Small Business Week, support the
Business Showcase on May 14, 2008, and express sincere appreciation for the
contributions of all small businesses in the City of San Rafael.
