Home My WebLink AboutCC Resolution 12530 (Purchase Street Sweepers)RESOLUTION NO. 12530 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO PURCHASE A TYMCO 600 STREET SWEEPER FROM GCS WESTERN POWER & EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $177,368 BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Rafael as follows: WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael must replace one of its ageing Tymco street sweepers; and, WHEREAS, this existing street sweeper had been designated by the City Council for replacement in Fiscal Year 2005-06, but for budgetary and other reasons, its replacement was deferred until Fiscal Year 2008-09; and WHEREAS, the Tymco street sweeper is the preferred manufacturer for a number of price, convenience, safety, and reliability reasons; and WHEREAS, GCS Western Power & Equipment is the sole source distributor of Tymco in our geographical area; and WHEREAS, the City has negotiated a fair and reasonable sale price of $177,368 based on the bidding and cooperative purchasing agreements of three other Bay Area cities, and our sale price is the same as or lesser than the cost negotiated by the other purchasing agencies; and WHEREAS, for the reasons stated above, the City Council therefore waives the competitive bidding requirements of Chapter 2.55 of the San Rafael Municipal Code for the purposes of this purchase; am NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of San Rafael that the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to purchase a Tymco 600 street sweeper from GCS Western Power & Equipment in the amount of $177,368.
