HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Resolution 12571 (Traffic Safety Grant Funds)RESOLUTION NO. 12571 RESOLUTION OF THE SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL APPROVING USE OFTHE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $577,154.00 FOR THE "AVOID THE MARIN 13 DUI CAMPAIGN— MARIN COUNTY" ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FROM OCTOBER 1, 2008 THROUGH JANUARY 31, 2012. Whereas, the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety granted the City of San Rafael $577,154.00 in grant funds; and, Whereas, this grant money may be spent to pay costs associated with the "Avoid the Marin 13" DUI enforcement campaign; and, Whereas, the City of San Rafael will coordinate with the nine municipal law enforcement agencies, the College of Marin, the Marin County Sheriff's office and the California Highway Patrol to conduct DUI/DL checkpoints, DUI saturation patrols, multi -agency DUI task force operations, warrant service patrols targeting DUI offenders, court sting operations targeting unlicensed DUI offenders and DUI seminars during the grant periods from October 1, 2008 through January 31, 2012; and, Whereas, the Department will use those funds for overtime personnel costs, reimbursement to allied agencies, publicity, educational material, checkpoint supplies and equipment; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the use of $577,154.00 in grant funds. I, Esther Beirne, Clerk of the City of San Rafael, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted at a regular meeting of the San Rafael City Council held on Tuesday, the 2nd day of September, 2008 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: Brockbank, Connolly, Heller, Miller & Mayor Boro NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: None ABSENT COUNCILMEMBERS: None Esther Beirne, City Clerk
