PRESENTS THIS
RESGUITION OF ilPPRECIRTION
TO
NANCY RosA
RETIRING CO -EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CANAL ALLIANCE
Nancy Rosa has been a resident and community leader in the Canal Neighborhood of
San Rafael for nearly four decades; and
Nancy is a founding member of the Canal Community Alliance, the Canal Ministry,
and an integral part of the group of Canal residents that helped create Pickleweed Park,
the original Community Center; and
Nancy's service on the Pickleweed Advisory Board contributed to the formulation of
use policies to maintain resident input in the use of the new Pickleweed Park
Community Center and Library; and
WHEREAS, Nancy initiated the Canal Ministry ESL program, a second language education
program, Canal Alliance Youth Education Program, after-school support for teens and
pre -teens; Canal Tech Center for technology education, training and access and many
community leadership and self betterment initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Nancy is a stabilizing force in the Canal Neighborhood creating opportunity for
immigrant families to be successful and productive in their new community; and
WHEREAS, Nancy has dedicated most of her adult life working in her community, for her
community, and with her community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of San Rafael
commend Nancy Rosa for her many years of exemplary service to the residents of the Canal
Neighborhood, and to the City of San Rafael.
