CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESI UNION OF 11P1 RECIRTION
TO
33 MERRYDALE ROAD
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael City Council established the Design Awards
Program on March 1, 1999 to recognize development projects with exceptional
architectural design; and
WHEREAS, the City Council established a Design Awards Jury consisting of a
representative from the City Council, Planning Commission, Design Review Board,
Chamber of Commerce, Federation of San Rafael Neighborhoods, North San Rafael
Coalition of Residents, and Marin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects; and
WHEREAS, the Design Awards Jury met on October 5, October 19 and October
26, including a tour of the finalists, to review the 25 nominations for recognition; and

WHEREAS, the Design Awards Jury has recommended a 2007 San Rafael
Design Avd°ard for the DeHaan Community Center at 33 Merrydale Road. ,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The San Rafael City Council honors the DeHaan Community Center at 33 Merrydale
Road as an example of exceptional architectural design, commends the building for its
contribution to the City of San Rafael, and presents a 2007 San Rafael Design Award to
architect Barbara Brown, Sausalito; contractor West Commercial and Custom Residential
Builders, Richmond; and project manager Robert DeHaan, San Rafael.
