CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOUITION OF APPRECIATION
TO
Stephen a Mary Mizroch
San Rafael Police Department
"Alex Miuoch Memorial AED Propram"
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that sudden cardiac arrest is a public
health crisis that is the number one killer of San Rafael residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that the American Heart Association
"chain -of -survival" to help victims of sudden cardiac arrest includes the following links:
early access to the emergency medical services system by calling 911, early
cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation, and early advanced cardiovascular
care; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that to make early defibrillation possible
an automated external defibrillator (AED) must be immediately available to police
personnel because they are on patrol 24 hours a day and are usually the first to respond to
a 911 emergency; and
WHEREAS, Stephen & Mary Mizroch demonstrated their commitment to the survival of
their fellow community members by donating the first AED to the San Rafael Police
Department; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael would like to acknowledge that the Mizroch's
contribution was made in memory of Stephen's brother, Alex, who died of sudden
cardiac arrest at age 50 in 1995.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council
of the City of San Rafael hereby express their sincere appreciation to Stephen and Mary
Mizroch by dedicating the Police Department AED Program to the memory of Alex
Mizroch.
