CITY OF SAN RAFAEL
PRESENTS THIS
RESOh1JT1ON DF APPRECIATION
TO
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Tamalpais Post 72
San Rafael Police AEG Program
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that sudden cardiac arrest is a public
health crisis that is the number one killer of San Rafael residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that the American Heart Association
"chain -of -survival" to help victims of sudden cardiac arrest includes the following links:
early access to the emergency medical services system by calling 911, early
cardiopulmonary resuscitation, early defibrillation, and early advanced cardiovascular
care; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Rafael recognizes that to make early defibrillation possible
an automated external defibrillator (AED) must be immediately available to police
personnel because they are on patrol 24 hours a day and are usually the first to respond to
a 911 emergency; and
WHEREAS, the members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Tamalpais Post 72 demonstrated
their commitment to the survival of their fellow community members by donating two
AEDs to the San Rafael Police Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council
of the City of San Rafael hereby express their sincere appreciation to the members of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Tamalpais Post 72 for their contribution to the health and
safety of the residents of San Rafael.
