San Rafael Planning Commissioner
WHEREAS, Bruce Scott was appointed to the San Rafael Planning Commission on August
19, 1996, and has served on the Planning Commission for ten years; and
WHEREAS, with wife Sue, the Scotts have occupied a seat on the Planning Commission
for 20 years, creating their own San Rafael planning legacy; and
WHEREAS, Bruce served as Chair of the Planning Commission during 2001; and
WHEREAS, Bruce attended more than 250 City meetings, always being attentive and
acting as a consensus builder; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure the Planning Commission reviewed many important projects
which will positively impact the City for many decades including General Plan 2020, the
Rafael Town Center, the San Rafael Corporate Center, Shamrock Center, Kaiser Clinic,
Lone Palm Apartments, McInnis Apartments, 1101 Fifth Avenue, Redwood Village, Vista
Marin, the Lofts at Albert Park, Chapel Cove, the Alma Via and Aldersley assisted living
projects, the conversion of the El Camino Building, Lincoln Mews, the Fasken Offices, 4300
Redwood Highway, 171-181 Third Street, rehabilitation of the San Rafael Improvement
Club building, upgrades to the Marin Academy campus, expansion of the Pickleweed
Community Center, the Academy Heights subdivision, Dominican University Master Plan,
Recreation Center and Science Building, and the Loch Lomond Marina Village, as well as
countless variances, exceptions and use permits; and
WHEREAS, Bruce's participation on the Planning Commission was characterized by his
steady, cool demeanor, his thorough research of the issues and well reasoned decision-
making;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of
San Rafael hereby extend their sincere appreciation for the contribution Bruce has made to
the betterment of the Community and its residents.
