DR. LAURA ALVARENGA
Dr. Laura Alvarenga is Superintendent of San Rafael City Schools, and an
advocate for improvements that will benefit the children and youth of the
Canal neighborhood; and
in September, 2005, Laura was appointed by the San Rafael City Council to
the Canal Stakeholder Committee, which was charged with preparing a
recommended Transportation Plan for the Canal neighborhood; and
Laura served as a representative of San Rafael City Schools, sharing her
knowledge of school transportation issues in the Canal; and
WHEREAS, Laura dedicated a year to a community-based planning effort to working
with Canal residents and business leaders to identify transportation concerns
and recommended improvements that will improve the quality of life in the
Canal neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby express
sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Laura Alvarenga for her substantial contributions to
prepare the Canal Transportation Plan.
