NOBLE A. (ROCKY) BIRDSEY
Noble A. ("Rocky") Birdsey has long been active in San Rafael as a resident
of the Montecito Neighborhood, and assisted with the preparation of the San
Rafael Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. Rocky is currently an advocate for the
Marin Center for Independent Living; and
in September, 2005, Rocky was appointed by the San Rafael City Council to
the Canal Stakeholder Committee, which was charged with preparing a
recommended Transportation Plan for the Canal neighborhood; and
Rocky served as a representative of the many Canal residents who ride their
bicycle or who walk to work, to school and to go shopping. In addition,
Rocky shared his expertise about the transportation challenges facing people
with disabilities; and
in addition to attending the Stakeholder Committee meetings, Rocky assisted
with preparation and staffing at the Open House events sponsored by the
Stakeholder Committee; and
WHEREAS, Rocky dedicated a year to a community-based planning effort to working
with Canal residents and business leaders to identify transportation concerns
and recommended improvements that will improve the quality of life in the
Canal neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council hereby express
sincere appreciation and gratitude to Rocky Birdsey for his substantial contributions to prepare
the Canal Transportation Plan.
